Coral Glades DECA to Host Fundraising Carnival on Dec. 12

Coral Springs, Florida – In order to raise funds for students to attend future trips and events, Coral Glades High School’s Distributive Education Clubs of America DECA chapter is holding a carnival.

This is the first time the organization is holding the event, which will have various activities, games, face painting, a life-sized Connect 4, Jenga, and more, according to Kasey Ardron, vice president of public relations.

There will also be a DJ, food and snacks, a cotton candy machine, a popcorn machine, and beverages.

DECA began planning the event In July and partnered with various organizations such as Broward Health Coral Springs, Provenance Wealth Advisors, Royal Palm Financial, and Battisti Orthodontics.

The carnival is a sales project, where DECA chapters around the country compete by organizing and hosting events such as 5K races, restaurant fundraisers, and sports tournaments, according to Ardron.

Coral Glades DECA chapter hosts the event ahead of the Florida DECA Career Development Conference in March and the International Career Development Conference in April.

As part of their business solutions project, in 2020, DECA hosted a virtual 5k to support Good Karma Pet Rescue. DECA got first place in the state for the project, according to Ardron.

The Coral Glades chapter of DECA is founded in 2006 allows students to learn about multiple facets of the business world and perform community service. It now has over 200 members.

Tickets cost $8 before the carnival and $10 at the entrance, and T-shirts cost $12.

The event takes place on Sunday, Dec. 12, at the school, located at 2700 Sportsplex Drive, from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m.
