Coral Springs gas prices continue to rise

Coral Springs, Florida – The average price of a gallon of unleaded in Florida went up 6 cents on Tuesday to an average of $4.53 a gallon.

Prices are expected to go up even more after a brief price dip over the past few days, according to AAA.

Compared to last month gas is 43 cents higher, and the price has increased by $1.66 since this time last year.

According to many drivers in Coral Springs, they are cutting back on daily spending to keep up with rising gas prices. “I have noticed a huge chunk of my paycheck going towards gas,” said Marianna Costi, 33, a teacher at J.P. Taravella High School in Coral Springs who commutes from Davie. “I’ve had to cut a lot of other expenses to be able to afford driving to work, see friends, and run errands.”

A 47-year-old, Liza Webb of Coral Springs says she, too, has cut down on “splurged expenses” as well as extra activities for her family.

Webb plans to be “more conscious on my daily routines and cut down on the driving and travel time on the road. Maybe carpool or use public transportation, if possible,” she said.

The cheapest gas in Coral Springs on Tuesday, according to GasBuddy:

– $4.39 – Costco at 4621 Coral Ridge Drive.

– $4.47 (cash) – Marathon at 10575 Wiles Road.

– $4.54 – 7-Eleven at 11650 W Sample Road.

The national gas price average is $4.59 for a gallon of unleaded, and that price hasn’t fallen in nearly a month.

Drivers in all 50 states are paying more than $4 per gallon, on average.

“Gasoline is $1.05 more than it was on February 24, when Russia invaded Ukraine,” AAA spokesperson Andrew Gross said in a statement.

“That sent shock waves through the oil market that have kept oil costs elevated. Domestically, meanwhile, seasonal gas demand is rising as more drivers hit the road, despite the pain they face paying at the pump,” Gross added.

According to AAA, drivers in Florida are paying the 25th highest price to fill up in the nation. The West Palm Beach/Boca Raton area has the highest average price, at $4.66 a gallon, in the state.

California drivers are paying the most for a gallon of unleaded at $6.06, while Oklahoma is the least at $4.04.
