Coral Springs man arrested for domestic violence
Coral Springs, Florida – A Coral Springs man was arrested for domestic assault by strangulation and obstruction of justice after choking his sister because she wouldn’t stop going through the mail.
On November 30, Coral Springs Police responded to a disturbance at the 3000 block of Coral Springs Drive. Upon arrival, officers encountered a female, later identified as the victim in the case, sitting on the curb in front of the community clubhouse.
According to the report, the victim told officers she and her brother, Dvonte Valencio Graham, 25, of Coral Springs, had gotten into a physical altercation over her refusal to stop looking at the mail.
The victim stated she was going through the mail when her brother asked her to put it down. When the victim refused, Graham and she got into a verbal altercation that led to Graham punching her and pushing her, causing her to fall down a flight of stairs. Once on the stairs, the victim told officers that Graham placed his hands around her neck and squeezed, causing her to lose the ability to breathe for ten seconds.
The victim told officers it was only when her boyfriend and Graham’s friends pulled him off of her that he stopped his assault and allowed the victim to exit the home.
The report stated after interviewing the victim, officers made contact with Graham through a second-floor window. Graham repeatedly refused requests to exit the residence and refused to speak with officers. At one point. Graham’s mother arrived at the residence and told him to stay inside.
The report stated two male friends of Graham’s told officers that while they did not want to be involved, the victim started the incident by punching him in the face.
After an hour of refusing officer demands, Graham exited the residence and was taken into custody.
Graham refused his right to speak, was placed under arrest and was transported to the Broward County Main Jail.
