Coral Springs Police: Man Tried To Flee Car Accident By Swimming Across Canal

Coral Springs, Florida –  Last month, a 21-year-old man allegedly caused a car accident in Coral Springs — but instead of sticking around to help sort things out, he ran into a nearby Wawa store to get a drink and then tried to flee by swimming across a canal, a police report said.

It happened on Oct. 24 at the intersection of Sample Road and Rock Island Road.

The driver of a BMW was going west on Sample Road through the intersection when the driver of a Nissan heading north on Rock Island Road allegedly ran a red light and hit the BMW, witnesses told police.
