Coral Springs, Florida – In sports, Coral Springs Middle School has a bright future because of its impressive cross-country and soccer teams.
The girls on the cross country team had success in their fifth week event at Tradewinds Park, building on their victory in the Northwest Area Schools XC Championship earlier in the year.
Addison Sahlin finished in third place overall, behind Antonella Dominguez Villanueva in second place. Teresa Alba came in sixth place as well, with Lauren Simbert, Samantha Degance, Jodie Choquette, Zena Ford, Arianna Sandoval, Isabel Hilmers, and Arianna Huriash following in order.
Brayden Basso finished in eighth place and Joseph Scalia in ninth, as the boy’s team finished in third place. Along with Blake Burden, Thomas Schedit, Aiden Coon, Colin Williams, Miguel Castro, Benjamin Huriash, Elijah Ladouceur, and Timothy Priester, Jaiden Ross also placed in the top 14 runners.
The boys’ soccer team advanced to the playoffs after placing second in their division, however, they were defeated by Franklin Sunrise Middle School. With just two losses for the season, the Stallions advanced to play Franklin Square, the Division 5 Champions, at Deerfield Beach Middle School. The girls’ soccer team, who played in the same league as Westglades Middle School, was unable to make it to the postseason.
