Design of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Tragedy Memorial on Coral Springs and Parkland Boundary names six finalists

Coral Springs, Florida – The decision to choose a designer for the memorial for the 17 students and staff members killed in the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School mass shooting is drawing near.

The nonprofit Parkland 17 Memorial Foundation will assess the comprehensive designs from the six finalists, who were selected in a nationwide design competition when they submit them shortly.

A survey containing extracts from the presentations will be available to the general public later this spring.

The memorial is anticipated to cost millions of dollars and will be funded entirely by contributions, according to organizers. It is located in a tranquil 150-acre preserve on the site of a former golf course near Heron Bay, which borders Coral Springs and Parkland.

A place of contemplation and recollection for the people slain, injured, and affected by the tragedy on February 14, 2018, will be provided by the selected design.

“This memorial ensures that the innocent children, husbands, fathers, brothers, sisters, friends, and colleagues taken from this world too soon are remembered forever,” Mike Moser, the foundation’s chairman who is a deputy chief for Coral Springs-Parkland Fire Department, said in a press release. “We know this memorial will inspire the nation and this community and ensure we never forget those who perished so tragically and needlessly.”

According to the statement, the six finalists for the monument design are:
