Fatal crash causes traffic delays in Florida Keys

Key Largo, Florida – After a fatal crash on Friday afternoon prompted its closure for more than three hours, deputies reopened the “18-Mile Stretch” of U.S. 1.

A yellow tarp covered a body near a Wendy’s restaurant.

According to deputies, there was a damaged motorcycle and a sports utility vehicle at Mile Marker 126.

The area was “fully closed” due to the crash at about 4:30 p.m., according to The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

Northbound traffic reopened just after 5 p.m., according to deputies. Shortly after 8 p.m., deputies announced the southbound lanes had also reopened.
