Coral Springs, Florida – According to police, a portion of Wiles Road in Coral Springs was closed Thursday due to a gas leak caused by road construction, for the second time this week.
According to the Coral Springs-Parkland Fire Department, the gas leak, reported shortly before 1:30 p.m., forced the shutdown of Wiles Road from 66 Terrace to Creekside Drive.
Residents of about 25 apartments just south of Wiles Road in that area were evacuated as a precaution, said Officer Chris Swinson, a spokesman for Coral Springs Police Department.
This week, on Monday, a gas leak closed off Wiles Road from University Drive to NW 87 Avenue, an area under construction as part of the Wiles Road widening project.
