House fire at Northeast 7th Avenue

Oakland Park, Florida – Tuesday a fire started in a house in Oakland Park during the afternoon’s thunderstorms.

Authorities said two people were inside the home at the time of the fire but they were able to get out.

According to investigators, what caused an Oakland Park home to go up in smoke is still unknown.

Investigators say the fire broke out at the house along Northeast 7th Avenue near 61st Street.

Officials said they are working to confirm a report that the fire was caused by a lightning strike.

Just before 4 p.m. authorities said the fire was under control and no injuries were reported.
