Coral Springs, Florida – With Coral Springs Charter Mark Montimurro officially winning his 600th career game on Wednesday, the legend just keeps getting bigger.
The team’s 21st season victory occurred in the Big-Eight Semifinals against Cardinal Gibbons High School, 7-0. Nevertheless, Montimurro remains committed to the team, hoping to win number 601, which would result in a Big-Eight Championship, and return with another State Championship.
It’s not truly a milestone number, in Montimurro’s opinion. “Simply delighted to be mentoring some excellent players and running a strong program after all these years.”
The Panthers will take against Western High School in the Big-Eight Final.
Courtney Wahlbrink shut out South Plantation High School in the first game CSC played, helping them win 2-0. In their victory over Cardinal Gibbons, Addison Michel and Stephanie Basso scored runs before Wahlbrink pitched six innings without allowing a hit. Gia Shirrippa earned the shutout after throwing the final inning.
The final’s first pitch is set for this Thursday, April 25 at 6:00 p.m. The Wildcats defeated West Broward High School and Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School to get to the final.
Despite being 20-3 this year, they suffered a 6-0 loss in their lone encounter with CSC.
