Coral Springs, Florida – For the next week, driving through a busy stretch of Rock Island Road in Coral Springs may take a little longer.
Starting Friday through Jan. 22, Rock Island Road will have one lane open northbound and one lane open southbound from Wiles Road to Sample Road so that continued improvements will be made to the roadway, according to the city of Coral Springs.
Those improvements include widening the road for five-foot bike lanes in each direction, upgrading the school crossing at NW 38 Street, making adjustments to the signage, and adding sidewalks.
The cost of the construction is projected to be $1.2 million, according to the Florida Department of Transportation. The project is expected to be finished this winter.
