May 2 is National Day of Prayer; Residents of Coral Springs are invited

Coral Springs, Florida – On The National Day of Prayer, people of all religions are welcome to offer prayers for the nation’s leaders and citizens.

The event is being held in the Coral Springs Center for the Arts on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. by the Clergy Coalition of Coral Springs, Parkland, and Northwest Broward in collaboration with the Coral Springs Multi-Cultural Advisory Committee.

The shared community prayer service is open to residents of all religions. Young people from different houses of worship will pray for peace, our leaders, and our country.

This ceremony honors a custom that has been carried out for more than 35 years, uniting people of all faiths in a moment of harmony and hope for the future.

On April 17, 1952, Senator Frank Carlson of Kansas and Conrad Hilton of Hilton Hotels passed a measure (Public Law 82-324) designating a National Day of Prayer.

This marked the beginning of the National Day of Prayer.

President Ronald Reagan declared the first Thursday in May to be the holiday in 1988.
