Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava delivers state of the County address
Miami-Dade, Florida – On Monday, Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava delivered the State of the County address to discuss her first year in office.
Levine Cava spoke about everything from the COVID-19 pandemic and the Surfside condo collapse.
“We faced unprecedented challenges this past year, from the ravaging effects of a pandemic to the tragic loss of life in Surfside,” Levine Cava said. “Our strength as a community was put to the test, but we worked tirelessly to overcome these challenges and I know that we are even more resilient and stronger because of it.”
Cava also went into details on affordable housing and how 14,000 units of workforce and affordable housing units are in development. She also spoke of the rental assistance program, and how some $80 million is helping about 8,000 families from being evicted from their homes. Cava spoke of the septic to sewer programs and how it’s important for neighborhoods to move to county sewer systems.
Cava put a huge emphasis on Biscayne Bay, not only the effort to clean it but also to protect it.
