Coral Springs, Florida – On October 17, at the Broward County Athletic Association meet at Markham Park, the J.P. Taravella boys’ cross-country team placed second.
Coach Dawn Spann expressed her pride in the group, noting that the runners had put in a lot of work to be successful this season and that she was particularly happy with the way they ran as a unit rather than as individuals.
The Trojan athletes have been committed to their preparation, says team captain Dominic Martinez, and they are excited for the district championship meet. At 18th position, Akeem Beckford was the top finisher for the Trojans.
Coral Springs High’s Jeffrey Belizaire placed third overall in the tournament, while teammate Matthew Wykpisz came in fifth.
He saw the race as a means of getting ready for the district and regional competitions. He remarked, “I would have liked to have won the race like last year.”
The Coral Springs High squad has been getting better, and coach Braxton Patterson says the team is getting ready for the district competition in Boca Raton on October 30. A trip to the Miami regional meet, where the best runners from South Florida compete for a spot in the Florida state championship meet, is awarded for success there.
The girls’ cross-country team from Coral Springs Charter finished in fourth place. One of the top runners for the Coral Springs schools was Kendall Parrott. She claimed she felt excellent during the race and finished in tenth place overall.
Coach Brantley Barr expressed his pride in the performance of Charter’s ladies and appreciated their ability to run quickly as a team. Alyson Thomas placed eighth, and Lily Richardson came in seventh.
The Marjory Stoneman Douglas cross-country team’s coach, Michael Mauro, reported that both the boys’ and girls’ teams ran well.
“This competition served as a benchmark for the forthcoming district and regional competitions.” “We want to make it to the state championship,” Mauro stated.
Eagles girls’ cross-country team captain Noa Nierman stated, “If we have a strong mentality, we can advance at districts.”
