Ways to de-stress and relax in nature

The worries that come along with work or school can bog you down, as can extraneous problems that pop up in your daily life. At times, it’s necessary to step back and take a breather so you can recharge yourself and clear your perspective.

Going outdoors is great for this because there is something calming about placing your attention on the plants, wildlife, and overall atmosphere that you find there.

Try out one or more of these ways to de-stress and relax in nature.

Take walks on trails

A regular walk in your neighborhood can be nice, but you’re still often exposed to many moving cars and people. To immerse yourself more deeply in serene environment, try taking walks on nature trails. This may take a bit more effort on your part, but the returns can be great. There will be fewer people around that you need to worry about maintaining a safe distance from because of the COVID-19 situation.

Additionally, the sounds that you hear will be much more subtle than those born from the hustle and bustle of busy streets. As you proceed, you can be mindful of the sights and smells of nature, allowing you to clear you mind.

Care for a garden

You can start a garden right in your front or backyard. The act of setting plants in the ground or arranging their pots, as well as watering and pruning them, can take your thoughts away from your stressors. Instead of worrying about things that you can’t change, you can focus on the simple, slow task at hand.

Since plants develop slowly, you’ll also build patience while watching them grow. Eventually, you’ll gain a sense of accomplishment when your plants’ flowers bloom stunningly, their leaves broaden, and their fruits appear.

Capture photos and videos

Although you’re trying to find a way to de-stress and relax in nature, this doesn’t mean that you must abandon technology entirely. Capturing photographs and video footage while you are out exploring can definitely improve your wellbeing when you enjoy it.

Arm yourself with a camera or phone and observe the small details in the natural world that you gloss over normally. As with walks, you can also travel to scenic spots and take pictures and videos of landscapes with breathtaking beauty that cause you to appreciate life in general more. To gain access to unique vantage points, consider getting a waterproof drone.

With one, you can take photos and videos overhead as the drone flies around. A waterproof design is important so that you can use it over bodies of water or even during rainfall without risking damage.
