Coral Springs, Florida – According to a police report, this week a 27-year-old woman allegedly took police on nearly a two-mile pursuit through Coral Springs after an officer tried to pull her over for cutting in and out of traffic.
Jasmine Gayle, of Tamarac, was passing cars at high rates of speed and tailgating others as a police officer pursued her on Coral Ridge Drive, NW 82 Street, University Drive, and other streets, according to the report.
The report says that the officer pulled in front of Gayle’s car, Nissan Sentra to get her to stop, but she drove over a curb and took off again.
The officer eventually stopped her in the 8100 block of University Drive, then pulled out a gun after a passenger in Gayle’s car approached him, the report said.
According to the report, Gayle screamed obscenities while several backup officers got her out of the car and into handcuffs.
She had an expired tag and she was charged with fleeing police, obstructing officers without violence, and reckless and careless driving, the report said.
Later, on a $2,500 bond for the fleeing police charge, Gayle was released from Broward County Jail.
