Lauderdale Lakes, Florida – What started as a night of celebration ended in chaos and tragedy when gunfire erupted outside a home in Lauderdale Lakes, leaving one man dead and another injured. The Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) confirmed that 33-year-old Antoninne Scotsman lost his life after an argument escalated into violence early Sunday morning.
According to authorities, deputies responded to reports of a shooting at around 12:20 a.m. outside a coral pink house on Northwest 35th Court, near 34th Terrace. Partygoers had been enjoying a birthday celebration when a dispute broke out between several individuals. The situation quickly spiraled out of control, culminating in gunfire that sent people scrambling for safety.
When deputies arrived, they found Scotsman and another man suffering from gunshot wounds. Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue rushed both men to a nearby hospital, but Scotsman did not survive his injuries. The second victim, whose identity has not been released, was reported to have non-life-threatening wounds and remains in stable condition.
The aftermath of the shooting painted a stark picture of the night’s turmoil. Empty liquor bottles, overturned chairs, scattered tables, and a Jamaica Ludi board game were left behind as evidence of the party’s abrupt and violent ending. Witnesses described the scene as chaotic, with bullets flying and terrified guests ducking for cover.
Detectives spent hours combing through the area, collecting evidence from vehicles parked near the residence. A white car was towed from the scene before sunrise as investigators worked to piece together the events leading up to the shooting. The BSO has yet to confirm if any suspects have been identified or taken into custody.
Scotsman’s criminal history added another layer to the story. According to the Florida Department of Corrections, he had been released from prison on November 8 after serving time for robbery and grand theft auto convictions in Broward County. Whether his past played any role in the incident remains unclear as authorities continue their investigation.
The Broward Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone with information to come forward. Those who wish to remain anonymous can contact Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
As detectives search for answers, the community is left grappling with yet another act of gun violence that turned a night of joy into a scene of heartbreak.
