7 people shot Friday night in an area of Wynwood, 1 person is dead

Miami, Florida – According to Miami police 7 people were shot Friday night in an area of Wynwood. On Saturday afternoon, police confirmed 1 person is dead.
The police responded to a ShotSpotter alert at 11:53 p.m. Friday in the area of Northwest 20th Street and Northwest 1st Court, which is on the border of the Miami neighborhoods of Wynwood and Overtown.
According to a witness who was driving by when he saw the commotion described it as a “crazy scene.” He told Local 10 News that he saw people, perhaps friends of one of the victims, carrying an injured person to a car, where they were put into the back seat and the car sped away.
Police said some people located at the scene were suffering from gunshot wounds and others had already arrived on their own to area hospitals. One was at University of Miami Hospital while 6 people were at Jackson Memorial Hospital, police said.
Police have not said if they have a suspect. The investigation is ongoing.
