Dania Beach, Florida – Dania Beach is calling on South Florida’s artists to bring their creative energy to the city, inviting them to reimagine public spaces with bold, engaging, and meaningful artistic expressions. With the launch of its Creative Visions initiative, the city aims to transform everyday locations into immersive, thought-provoking artistic experiences that connect with residents and visitors alike. The application period is now open, and artists from all disciplines are encouraged to submit their ideas before the March 28, 2025 deadline.

The initiative is designed to expand the presence of public art beyond traditional locations. From parks and community hubs to business storefronts and unexpected corners of the city, Dania Beach wants to ensure that creativity reaches all parts of the community.

“Our city is their canvas. We welcome proposals from a wide range of creative professionals from artists to filmmakers and poets,” said Eleanor Norena, director, Community Development Department, City of Dania Beach. “Anything. Everywhere.”

This broad invitation means that no medium is off-limits. Whether it’s murals, sculptures, digital art, performance pieces, interactive installations, or something entirely unconventional, all forms of artistic expression are welcome. Proposals can be for temporary or permanent works, as long as they align with the initiative’s goals of engaging the community and enhancing public spaces with meaningful, impactful messages.

Once the application period closes, the Dania Beach Public Art Advisory Board will review submissions during its April 28, 2025 meeting. Up to five artists or teams will be selected to move forward in the proposal development phase, each receiving a stipend to refine their concepts. To be eligible, applicants must either live or work in South Florida or be part of a team that includes at least one local artist.

The city hopes Creative Visions will not only beautify public spaces but also foster deeper connections between the arts and the community. By giving artists the freedom to push creative boundaries, Dania Beach is embracing an innovative and inclusive approach to public art—one that has the potential to transform the city’s landscape and enrich the everyday experiences of those who live, work, and visit there.
