This May 18, the Coral Springs-Parkland Fire Department is hosting a free water safety event

Coral Springs, Florida – The Coral Springs-Parkland Fire Department is hosting a public education program where you can learn all about water safety. In preparation for the summer swimming season, the event seeks to equip participants with vital safety skills.
“With the frequency of accidental drownings in Broward County, it’s critical to host free community-wide events that emphasize the importance of water safety,” said Coral Springs-Parkland Fire Department Chief Michael McNally.
On May 18th, from 10 am to 2 pm, Mullins Pool will host the Water Safety Day. Everyone, regardless of age, will be able to enjoy a wide range of educational and entertaining activities at this event, which offers free admission.
Local reps will give Water Smart Broward Swim coupons for free or low-cost swim classes at local pools, certified lifeguards will lead interactive demonstrations, and guests can practice CPR and First Aid in casual sessions.
People living in the area can also get information on how to keep themselves and their homes safe around pools and other bodies of water.
Participation in open swimming sessions, musical performances, water activities, and prize drawings will liven up the occasion.
The majority of unintentional deaths in children aged 1 to 4 are due to drowning, as reported by the CDC. Nearly 300 youngsters younger than five years old drown in pools every year.
McNally added, “As we head into the summer season, we hope the community will take the skills learned at this event to be safer in and around the water. Our goal is always to prevent a potential tragedy.”
Just off of NW 29th Street at 10180 lies Mullins Pool.
