Coral Springs, Florida – After allegedly yelling racist death threats at witnesses and neighbors, a father and son were taken into custody on accusations of disturbing the peace.

The Coral Springs Police were called to a neighborly argument near the 5400 block of Northwest 122nd Drive on October 4.

Records state that when the cops arrived, they saw two males from Coral Springs: Yang Bin Mei, 74, and his 44-year-old son, Xin Bing Mei.

In the final arrest reports for both men, officers stated that they had seen an older man—later identified as Yang—approaching law enforcement with a black shovel in hand. Yang first refused to comply with the cops’ repeated commands, but in the end, he put the shovel next to his garage.

When officers tried to speak with Yang, he said that his son Xin could do the translating.

Records indicated that even though Xin Mei was aware that police were looking into a possible battery incident involving the neighbors, he refused to help translate when investigators approached him.

According to CSPD records, Xin started to act more and more irrationally, calling the officers “dumb asses” and refusing to cooperate.

A bystander—a black male who wished to remain anonymous—became aware of the unfolding event during the exchange. At this time, Yang and Xin turned their wrath against the uninvolved individual instead than the officers.

Documents indicate Numerous witnesses, including neighbors, reportedly heard Xin yelling racist epithets and threats, such as “Go to hell, nigga,” “Go to hell bitch,” and “I’ll put a bullet in your head, nigger.”

The racist rhetoric and scary threats forced a few neighbors to come out of their houses to watch the chaos.

To defuse the situation, officers asked Xin to go back inside the house, but he refused and kept acting aggressively. Xin disregarded orders to remain back and moved toward the officers as they started to apprehend Yang.

Xin was also taken into custody as a result of his aggressive actions and verbal threats.

Following their arrests, Yang Bin Mei and Xin Bing Mei were accused of disorderly conduct. Xin is also accused of obstructing without using force.

Both males were taken to Broward County Main Jail after being arrested. Since then, they have been freed upon paying a $150 bond.
