More than $6,000 is raised for the Firefighter Cancer Initiative at Coral Springs’ annual pasta dinner

Coral Springs, Florida – More than $6,000 was raised at the Coral Springs-Parkland Fire Department’s annual Cancer Awareness Pasta Dinner earlier this month to support a vital cause for first responders, according to organizers.
The University of Miami’s Firefighter Cancer Initiative, a program created in 2015 to address the increased cancer risks encountered by Florida firefighters, will benefit from all revenues from the event on October 19 at Fire Station #80, located at 2825 Coral Springs Drive.
A group of scientists, medical professionals, and occupational health specialists are in charge of the program, which aims to detect and lower cancer risks among firefighters.
The initiative’s continued activities, including its yearly cancer survey, educational events, and environmental sampling projects, will be supported by the money donated from the dinner.
Hundreds of locals attended the event, contributing $8 for bread, pasta meatballs, and drinks.
