Coral Springs To Build New Basketball Court Across From Cypress Park
CORAL SPRINGS, FL – Since converting the basketball courts to pickleball courts at Cypress Park in Coral Springs, the city recreation staff has tried to figure out where to rebuild the basketball courts.
Last week, they finally arrived at a solution: at least one full court will be constructed across the street at Cypress Hammock Park at 1301 Coral Springs Drive, next door to Cypress Water Park.
For now, it’s not clear if they will add an additional half-court there over the existing parking lot, sometime in the spring of 2021.
An earlier plan presented to city commissioners called for building two half-courts at Cypress Park near the entrance where there are rows of parking spaces.
Commissioners decided, though, that putting the new courts at Cypress Park would create a parking crunch for park visitors.
In other news, Coral Springs announced Monday that five-on-five basketball games are now permitted at city parks after being suspended in the spring at the start of the pandemic.
Permitting the games is part of the relaxing of Covid-19 restrictions approved in recent weeks in Coral Springs and across Broward County.
