Thursday Update: Johnson & Johnson Vaccine Shipment Delayed For Weeks, And More News

CORAL SPRINGS, FL – For those looking to get a Johnson & Johnson vaccine in Coral Springs or Broward County, you’ll have to wait a few more weeks or more.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said this week the state won’t get a new shipment of the single-shot vaccine for at least several weeks. He didn’t have a clear answer on why the shipments are being delayed.
“If you’ve been waiting for J&J, and you have an opportunity to get a Pfizer, or a Moderna, I’d recommend getting the Pfizer or the Moderna if you can do it, because I can’t guarantee you J&J is going to be available,” he said at a news conference in Palm Harbor on Wednesday. “It’s beyond our control.”
DeSantis said if the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines keep coming at current levels, and once the Johnson & Johnson vaccine production picks up, he expects to expand the age group eligible for vaccination.
“I’m not going to announce yet, but we definitely will lower to 55 sometime in March,” DeSantis said.
