Woman Arrested After Purchasing $10,000 in Jewelry With Stolen Credit Card

A Coral Springs woman was arrested for fraud and illegal possession of another person’s identification after using a stolen credit card to buy over $10,000 worth of jewelry.
On March 6, a victim notified the Coral Springs Police that her Kay Jeweler’s credit card stolen from a wallet in her car on March 3 was used to make a purchase for over $10,000 at Coral Square Mall. She discovered it after receiving a bank alert informing her of a large purchase.
Officers reviewed surveillance footage and witnessed a woman, later identified as Heidi Brumfield, 30, making the purchase at Kay Jewelers.
Brumfield, wearing a black hoodie, black sweatpants, and a facial covering, entered the store near closing time. After selecting an item to purchase, Brumfield provided store associates with multiple forms of personal information, including the victim’s social security card.
At one point, Brumfield was issued a security code to the victim’s cellphone number but was able to convince the bank that she had lost it. The bank, instead, sent the code to the new number she provided.
Kay Jeweler employees told police that Brumfield spent more than 90 minutes inside the store. She attempted to rush the transaction, claiming she had to get to Macy’s before they closed, however, the purchase was completed during after-store hours.
On March 16, a probable cause for the arrest of Brumfield was issued by Coral Springs Police. On March 19, police apprehended Brumfield during a traffic stop on Wiles Road, where she was arrested and transported to the Broward County Main Jail. She was later released on a $1,000 bond.
