Man injured in shooting dies after collapsing in transit bus in Lauderhill

LAUDERHILL, FLA. – A man has died after he was shot, then boarded a transit bus in Lauderhill where he collapsed, police said.
7SkyForce HD hovered above the scene in the area of the 2900 block of Northwest 56th Avenue, Monday afternoon.
Lauderhill Police said they responded to calls of a shooting at around 4 p.m. Responding officers found the victim inside the bus suffering from gunshot wounds.
He was transported to Broward Health Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries.
Investigators believe the man was shot at an unknown location, approached a passing bus, entered and collapsed after telling passengers that he was wounded.
It remains unclear how many people were on board the bus at the time.
Just after 5:30 p.m., 7News cameras captured the bus cordoned off with crime scene tape.
Area residents said they were initially confused when the bus pulled over, since the shooting apparently happened at a different location.
“This thing is crazy, yo. His family is gonna go real crazy,” said a woman. “It’s shot out.”
“I don’t know. That type of situation like that, gotta be some beef,” said a man.
Police have closed Northwest 56th Avenue between West Oakland Park Blvd and Northwest 25th Street to all traffic while they investigate. They urge drivers and pedestrians to avoid the area.
Police have not released the victim’s name or provided further details about a possible gunman or the location of the shooting.
