Coral Springs veterans and active military members featured on street banners

Coral Spring, Florida – Tuesday Coral Springs announced the launch of the inaugural Hometown Heroes Banner program that will feature banners hung along University Drive from Royal Palm Boulevard to Ramblewood Drive on a quarterly basis.
A new initiative is honoring Coral Springs military veterans and active-duty service members by putting their names, faces, and military branches on street banners.
“This patriotic display of appreciation is a great reminder of the sacrifices these men and women endured and continue to endure in the pursuit of our nation’s freedom,” Mayor Scott Brook said in a news release.
This is in addition to veteran recognitions held monthly at City Commission meetings and in ceremonies on Memorial Day and Veterans Day.
Coral Springs residents are encouraged to submit their military family members for recognition through an online application portal on the city’s website, according to the release. Banner placement is free, but space is limited.
Applications are reviewed by staff on a first-come, first-serve basis. At the end of each quarter, the banner will be given to the service member or their family “as a continued gesture of our appreciation,” the release said.
