In a first-ever event, the Coral Springs-Parkland Fire Department encourages future female firefighters

Coral Springs, Florida – On October 14, the Coral Springs-Parkland Fire Department held its first-ever Ignite the Flame event, a one-day camp intended to expose girls to the fire industry.
Thirty-five girls in the sixth through eighth grades attended the event at the Coral Springs Regional Institute of Public Safety, which gave them practical training in firefighting and related fields.
The Coral Springs-Parkland Fire Department reports that the campers engaged in a variety of physical exercises created especially to mimic actual firefighting situations. These included practicing search and rescue drills, learning how to use a fire hose and control its flow, and becoming proficient in climbing and rappelling.
Along with learning about and practicing vital firefighting techniques under the supervision of qualified experts, they also learned about ventilation and forced entry.
In order to assist the campers develop the strength and endurance necessary for physically taxing firefighting duties, they also participated in physical fitness training, which is a vital aspect of the firefighting profession.
The goal of Ignite the Flame is to help the young ladies who come to camp develop their sense of self-worth.
The training was run by female fire teachers from various parts of Florida, such as Miami, Port St. Lucie, Coral Springs, and Parkland.
