Private elementary school looks to open in Coral Springs

Coral Springs, Florida – A small private elementary school is proposing to open in the Brookside Square shopping center on Wiles Road and Coral Springs Drive in Coral Springs.
The school, Kind Academy, is a “micro-school for students who homeschool or prefer a more flexible education model,” according to an application to Coral Springs.
If approved, the school would open on the west end of the plaza, providing a “service for families in Coral Springs who need an alternative education for students with special needs, as well as families who need a smaller school environment to succeed.”
On Tuesday, the city’s Administrative Zoning Review Committee is expected to review the school’s request to open.
The school’s activities would be indoors, and hours of operation would be from 8-6 p.m., according to the application.
Brookside Square has an estimated 6,000-square-foot preschool, iPlanet Academy, operating on the far east side of the plaza.
As long as it meets conditions that include not enrolling more than 20 students and having activities inside the building, the city’s planning and zoning staff is recommending that the Administrative Zoning Review Committee approve the request for the school to open.
