Vulnerable Homebound Seniors In Coral Springs Get Covid-19 Vaccines

CORAL SPRINGS, FL – Coral Springs employees continued Thursday giving Covid-19 vaccines to homebound seniors including a 91-year-old Holocaust survivor.
The vaccinations were given as Gov. Ron DeSantis announced plans to expand efforts across the state to provide vaccines to people 65 and older who aren’t able to leave their homes.
Florida is making 1,500 vaccines available each week for homebound seniors, he said.
“Not everyone can go to a drive-thru site. Not everyone can go to a hospital. Some have family to help them. Not everyone has that all the time,” DeSantis said during a visit to Aventura Turnberry Jewish Center.
Coral Springs has started a mobile vaccination unit to administer vaccines at senior living communities and homes across the city with the help of the Cleveland Clinic, Florida Department of Emergency Management, and Florida Department of Health.
According to the city, seniors who will receive vaccinations at home are identified through a vulnerable population registry and contacted by the Coral Springs-Parkland Fire Department.
That included Louse Freid, a homebound resident and Holocaust survivor, according to a fire department social media post.
Also included, according to another post, was Noel Linton, a visually impaired, 94-year-old retired firefighter.
