Florida gas prices significantly decreased over the weekend
Miami, Florida – Over the weekend, Florida drivers noticed a dramatic decline in gas prices.
The Florida Motor Fuel Tax Relief Act of 2022, which took effect on October 1st, is partly to blame for that. Through the rest of October, the state’s 25.3 cent per gallon tax is suspended.
The statewide average for Monday was $3.22 per gallon. Since January, that is the cheapest daily average price.
“This gas tax builds on the previous downward pressure on pump prices, stemming from global recession concerns and underwhelming fuel demand,” said AAA spokesman Mark Jenkins. “Prices are now beginning to dip below $3 a gallon at various gas stations in the state. While everyone might not be so lucky to see sub-$3 gasoline, all Floridians should expect a sizeable discount this week.”
Since the start of the gas tax vacation, the state’s average gasoline price has decreased by 13 cents per gallon.
Since prices peaked at $4.89 per gallon in mid-June, the state average had decreased by a total of $1.50 per gallon before October.
