Coral Springs sees a boom in martial arts as local academies provide routes to health, order, and lifelong relationships

Coral Springs, Florida – In the past 30 years, martial arts have been more popular than ever as a hobby and form of exercise due to the rise in popularity of the UFC and MMA.
Unbeknownst to you, Coral Springs is home to almost thirty academies spanning numerous disciplines. Numerous opportunities exist in our city to foster social engagement, mental wellness, and physical health.
Training martial arts in the ultimate goal of earning your black belt and giving back by instructing those beneath you in the style of your choice are the best activities that encapsulate everything said above.
My background as a professional mixed martial artist comes from my own experience. I lived in Coral Springs, trained with the prestigious American Top Team in Coconut Creek, and participated in competitions all over the world.
Following my retirement, I pursued my Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai training at Alliance BJJ and American Top Team All Striking in Coral Springs.
I learned martial arts as a wrestler, and it has helped me develop a strong sense of self-control, accountability, fortitude, and encouragement to lead a healthy lifestyle. In the academies I have trained at over the years, I have also made lifelong connections with some of the most incredible people. Being a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) second-degree black belt, nothing makes me happier than passing on my knowledge to our community’s students, who range in age from 4 to 80.
A psychiatrist who trains at Coral Springs Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Dr. Jeffrey Mandelkorn, is a prime example of the positive effects martial arts training can have on people and shows why all it takes to start seeing the kind of transformation you want in your life is a single session. “At first, I was interested in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as a way to get in shape, feel stronger, and boost my confidence. Having trained for nearly a year, I have surpassed my own expectations. I’ve shed thirty pounds and feel more stronger and more fit. Additionally, I’ve discovered a community that supports me, which keeps me inspired.
Because martial arts training fosters a strong sense of camaraderie, it varies from traditional exercise methods like gym memberships and fitness programs. In addition to receiving inspiration from the teachers, you can also get encouragement from your peers, who share the mats, link arms, and strive for personal growth in tandem with you. Pupils from diverse backgrounds become friends with their classmates of various ages. supporting one another’s personal development and motivating one another to improve their art.
This recommendation comes from a fellow American Top Team All Striking martial arts student who is really appreciative that Muay Thai entered his life.
American Top Team All Striking is an unbelievable find right here in Coral Springs. The owner, Katel Kubis, is not only a world-class fighter but also the head striking coach for many World Champions and MMA athletes across the UFC and every other fighting organization. He personally spends time every day with students of all skill levels, making them just a little better- both Muay Thai practitioners and people! Katel and his handpicked team of highly skilled, positive, and caring coaches made choosing to be a student at American Top Team All Striking amazingly rewarding I would recommend to anyone!” –Mike Gelfano, American Top Team All Striking student.
When it comes to entrepreneurs that genuinely care about providing excellent customer and member service, martial arts professors are unmatched. Their top priority is your personal development on all levels, both mentally and physically. They see it as their personal duty to ensure that the dozens, sometimes even hundreds, of students can use the knowledge they gain in training to improve their lives both inside and outside the academy by developing self-assurance, self-control, and accountability.
For this reason, above all, it is strongly advised that children be exposed to martial arts. The vast majority of children who take part now have better self-control, self-assurance, and self-worth. Over the years, I have taught hundreds of kids, and each time, their parents have attested to this fact and even said that their child now has a stronger capacity to handle hardship when things don’t go their way. This gives them an advantage in competition as well as in their adult professional lives.
Many kids sign up to get bullying management skills. As educators, we have also discovered that training teaches kids when it is NOT appropriate to engage in physical contact. Training promotes the physical activity required for a child’s exercise and fitness, and it frequently helps with energy release for the ideal after-school activity. Most importantly, it’s enjoyable. Children join in this good adventure with their team and develop lifelong connections there.
All of the Coral Springs Police Department’s Detective Tim Coker’s compliments and gratitude flow from his time spent teaching Brazilin Jiu at Alliance BJJ Coral Springs.
“Teaching BJJ is the best thing I’ve ever done for myself as an officer,” the officer said. BJJ is non-violent and teaches cops how to take control with the least amount of force necessary, which is its strongest feature. I now have so much more confidence to handle problems calmly and carry out my duties securely.
Many of the police officers in our community attend local jiu-jitsu academies to further their studies. The department uses the law enforcement class at Alliance BJJ off of Coral Ridge and Wiles to handle problems in the orderly manner that Detective Coker is referring to for the benefit of our community.
Coral Springs has a strong foundation for martial arts instruction, and for good reason—there are a lot of expanding academies there. It’s a fantastic pastime that has positively impacted millions of lives. There’s no better way to develop a network within our community and learn about self and situational awareness.
I personally attest to the fact that you and your loved ones will derive immense advantages from it, having been a part of the culture for most of my life. There are several options in the city to get you started on your journey.
