Bradley McKeone, the chief of police in Coral Springs, is leaving to take a position as deputy city manager

Coral Springs, Florida – Bradley McKeone, the chief of police of Coral Springs, announced his resignation on Monday in order to take a position as deputy city manager.
According to a statement he made on the city’s website, McKeone, a 25-year veteran of the police force, would be in charge of the city’s parks and recreation, disaster preparedness, community involvement, and police and fire departments.
“Building upon the foundations of safety, service, and connection that define Coral Springs, it is an honor to continue serving this community in a broader capacity,” McKeone wrote.
Earlier this month, City Manager and longtime public servant Frank Babinec announced his retirement. When McKeone sought Babinec’s job, it ultimately went to Catherine Givens, the new city manager.
On Monday, it remained unclear when McKeone would start his new position.
In March 2022, McKeone was appointed the seventh chief of police for the city.
In addition to serving as executive officer for the police department’s SWAT unit, he started his career with the department in 1999 and was elevated to deputy chief of police in March 2018.
According to the city, the seasoned law enforcement official has a criminal justice bachelor’s and master’s degree.
