Florida reports 12,873 new coronavirus cases Thursday, 161 resident deaths

Florida health officials confirmed 12,873 additional cases of COVID-19 on Thursday and another 161 resident deaths as a result of the novel coronavirus.
The state has now verified 1,613,884 COVID-19 cases since the outbreak began and 24,739 resident deaths, according to the department of health.
Another 389 non-residents have died within the state, and there have been at least 69,282 resident hospitalizations attributed to the novel coronavirus in Florida since the start of the outbreak.
Deaths verified in the past day include 14 in Miami-Dade County, six in Broward County, three in Monroe County and five in Palm Beach County.
At least 1,183,012 vaccines have been administered in Florida, with 123,971 people in the state getting both shots that are needed. Miami-Dade has had 137,954 vaccinations, Broward has had 105,958 and Monroe 4,812, according to the latest numbers posted by the state Thursday.
The statewide positivity rate on yesterday’s testing was 8.54%.
