Free self-defense class for women and teens at Athletica Health and Fitness Gym
Coral Springs, Florida – True-Self Defense hosts the two-part course at the Athletica Health and Fitness Gym at 9800 W. Atlantic Blvd.
This Saturday from 2-3:30 p.m. will be the first course, and the second will be on Saturday, July 30, from 2-3:30 p.m. Both courses are available to women and girls ages 12 and up.
Master Darren Buckner, who has been teaching for 28 years, is a fifth-degree black belt in taekwondo and has experience in Krav Maga.
According to Buckner, Students will learn how to assess dangerous situations and environments in the first week and how to defend themselves using natural reactive techniques.
“They’re not going to learn something that has to be taught through repetitional training,” Buckner said.
Instead, students will learn how to use motions their bodies are accustomed to defending themselves. Basic striking techniques will also be taught in the first week. The second week will focus on adding gun defense techniques to the skills learned in the week prior.
Every three months Buckner and the Athletica Gym will be providing two free courses for women and girls to attend.
Buckner will also teach private classes for students interested in continuing their training and weekly self-defense courses for children.
