Northwest Miami-Dade, Florida – Police detained multiple people after an early-morning fire in Northwest Miami-Dade destroyed a home and killed two people.

The fire started on Friday morning at three in the morning near the 1900 block of Northwest 53rd Street, according to Miami-Dade Police.

Five persons, according to the investigators, resided in the home. Two of them got trapped when the fire started.

After arriving on the scene, firefighters started battling the fire.

A neighbor reported hearing loud thumping during the night. She reported seeing smoke and flames when she peered out the window.

“Alright, what’s going on? “At three in the morning, what’s the racket?” she inquired.

The neighbor claimed that as she hurried outdoors, she observed two males attempting to dial 911. She walked back inside and made an assistance call since their phones were dead.

Upon arrival, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue teams discovered that three of the residents were not inside the residence. They discovered that the other two were confined indoors.

Firefighters broke windows and climbed the roof to ventilate the building as they worked quickly to put out the intense smoke and flames.

It resembled several fire engines. The neighbor said, “It felt like every cop in the city, every ambulance, and every fire rescue [were here].”

The Broadcastify police scanner announced, “Attention all units, the second alarm fire on TAC one is now under control.”

A man and a woman were extracted from the house by crews, who also performed life-saving procedures. They didn’t make it out alive.

Barbara Tamayo was recognized by the neighbors as one of the victims.

Jorge Marin, the third resident, with burns to his hands and back. “Look, I’m burned.” “I am the one who is injured, I am the victim,” declared Marin, turning to reveal the burns on his lower back. “They are referring to one injured person, which is me, and there are two dead.”

Investigators have not said how they believe the fire originated, but Marine believes it was done purposefully and that it was tied to an altercation.

The identity of the victims have not been disclosed by the authorities as of late Friday afternoon.

Several persons were reportedly detained by the police to be questioned. But there haven’t been any arrests made.

The investigation into the fire’s cause is still ongoing.
