At Chamber Breakfast, Catherine Givens outlines her vision as the next city manager of Coral Springs

Coral Springs, Florida – At the yearly Wake Up Chamber Breakfast, Catherine Givens, the first female city manager of Coral Springs, gave a motivational inauguration speech, highlighting a common vision for the city’s future.
In front of a crowded room of local business executives, Givens discussed her path from international banking to local government and vowed to create a thriving, creative community.
“I am devoted to ensuring that Coral Springs is a place where people and businesses prosper, having grown up here and returned to serve the community I love,” Givens stated.
She thanked the municipal workers, many of whom were in attendance, as well as the municipal Commission, Mayor Scott Brook, and her predecessor, Frank Babinec, for their leadership and assistance.
Givens presented her vision for Coral Springs in her speech, emphasizing public safety, improved aesthetics, streamlined services, economic growth, and robust educational options. She outlined strategies to preserve natural resources while promoting economic sustainability through creative enterprises and strategic alliances.
In order to connect neighborhoods and encourage active lives, she also described infrastructural initiatives including the 10-mile Everglades loop and the Sawgrass Expressway’s development.
Givens underlined the city’s dedication to using technology to improve municipal services, particularly the application of AI to streamline permitting procedures and improve customer experience. According to her, the goal of these developments is to satisfy the expanding requirements of the community while maximizing the contributions of city workers. Significant enhancements to Coral Springs’ aesthetics are also anticipated, including expanded public art initiatives, beautification projects, and new entrance signage.
According to Givens, public safety continues to be a key component of the city’s approach. She commended the Coral Springs Police and Fire Departments for their excellent work, highlighting the need of a real-time crime center and cutting-edge crime prevention technology in maintaining community safety.
Givens also outlined efforts to improve relationships with nearby schools, such as workshops for SAT and ACT preparation, a Youth Ambassador Program, and internships for kids interested in working for the government.
Givens stressed the value of cooperation between the city and its business community throughout her speech, characterizing their relationship as essential to Coral Springs’ prosperity.
“Your success is important to our city, but it’s also personal to me,” she remarked. “My door is open as your city manager, and I am prepared to collaborate with you to accomplish your objectives.”
