City Hosts Final Plasma and Blood Drive, October 16

Coral Springs, Florida – Since January, our nation has been committed to understanding, mitigating and preventing the spread of COVID-19. As we studied more about the disease, we learned of preventative measures to take, as well as efforts to help those recovering from the virus.
Dedicated to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our residents, the City of Coral Springs has worked to provide opportunities for residents to give back to their community and others who are in need through our partnership with One Blood for monthly blood and plasma donations.
On Friday, October 16, 2020, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the City of Coral Springs will host its final blood and plasma drive in partnership with OneBlood, located at 9551 West Sample Road. All donors will receive a FREE wellness checkup including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, iron count, cholesterol screening and a COVID-19 antibody test.
“Our community has been a tremendous aid in replenishing our blood supply and in supporting those battling the virus by donating convalescent plasma. We are grateful to have such selfless residents who look out for each other,” said City Manager Frank Babinec. “The blood and plasma drives have helped many families during this pandemic, and we urge our residents to consider participating in this final drive as we continue to support those in need.”
The City of Coral Springs continues its commitment to protecting the health and wellbeing of residents as we navigate the COVID-19 pandemic. Frequent testing, practicing good personal hygiene and mask-wearing are all steps we must take to prevent community spread.
The antibody test is authorized by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and will indicate if the donor’s immune system has produced antibodies to the virus, regardless of whether they ever showed symptoms. Donors will be able to see their results in approximately 48-96 hours after donating by logging into their donor portal at www.oneblood.org.
Donors must be 16 or older and weigh at least 110 pounds. Photo ID and face coverings are required. To make an appointment, click here or call 954-655-3900
