Coral Springs commissioner elected to the board of directors of the National League of Cities

Coral Springs, Florida – At the 2024 City Summit of the National League of Cities in Tampa, Coral Springs Commissioner Joshua Simmons was elected to the board of directors.
Simmons will support NLC’s strategic direction in federal lobbying, governance, and membership activities during his two-year term in office.
President Steve Patterson appointed Simmons to the NLC Executive Committee and the Finance Committee in addition to his position on the Board of Directors. Simmons will participate in in-depth talks to develop programming and strategy as a member of the Executive Committee, with an emphasis on working with the Trump Administration.
“I will have the chance to represent Coral Springs at the highest level as a member of the Executive Committee. In order to tackle the most significant issues that local governments are currently confronting, I am thrilled to support our city’s initiatives and work with leaders from throughout the country.
In Washington, D.C., the NLC is the biggest and most representative group for cities, promoting the goals of local government. A 15-member nomination committee chooses the NLC Board members, who are then ratified by the organization’s membership. Simmons will convene in March, June, and November to determine the strategic orientation of the NLC.
According to Patterson, the National League of Cities’ vision and priorities are developed in large part by the Board of Directors.
As they share their expertise and experience working with the citizens of our country’s cities, towns, and villages to create stronger communities, I am excited to work side by side with this exceptional group of local leaders.
To commemorate NLC’s 100th year of supporting local government initiatives, more than 4,000 mayors, council members, and other delegates convened at the City Summit.
