Coral Springs, Florida – By the time police arrested him, a 23-year-old Coral Springs man tried to break into 12 cars, a police report said.
Coral Springs officers caught up to Justin Attai on NW 94 Way on Nov. 19 after he tried to break into a car in the area of Shadow Wood Boulevard, the report said.
Once in custody, Attai told investigators that he pulled on a total of 12 car doors in the area, the report said.
Police also learned that Attai had tried to break into a home on NW 92 Terrace.
In that incident, he pulled on the front door and tried to get into the garage.
Police charged Attai with two counts of burglary.
He remained Tuesday at Broward County Jail on $20,000 in bonds for the charges.
In the first eight months of 2020, car thieves broke into at least 180 cars in Coral Springs, police said.
Police encourage residents to lock their cars at night and bring their keys inside their homes.
