Covid-19 cases in Coral Springs continue to rise
Coral Springs, Florida – With COVID-19 cases spiking all around the state, we continue to provide updates from the Florida Department of Health.
Unfortunately, fall has brought with it some bad news; COVID-19 cases are setting record highs all around the country. The data in Broward County is trending upward towards the numbers Floridians grew accustomed to seeing during the first wave of infections.
According to the Florida Department of Health, as of December 6, there have been 5,762 positive COVID-19 cases in Coral Springs. That’s an increase of 175 positive cases since December 4.
In Parkland, on December 6, the number of positive COVID cases rose above 1,000 for the first time at 1,007.
Statewide in Florida, there have been 1,065,785 positive COVID-19 cases to date. Florida is one of only three states in the U.S. to have recorded over one million COVID-19 cases.
There were 100,703 COVID-19 tests conducted in Florida on December 6, with 11,003 coming back positive. Of those positive cases, 7,575 were Floridians testing positive for the first time.
Over the last two weeks, positive test rates have remained steady, ranging from 8.26-percent on November 20 to 9.87-percent on December 6.
The average age of a resident to contract COVID-19 in Broward County on December 6 was 40-years-old. For weeks, the average age of a person contracting COVID-19 in Florida has hovered at or around 40-years-old.
Since the pandemic began, there have been 19,282 deaths to date in Florida due to COVID-19, with a total of 56,607 patients hospitalized due to the virus.
