Due to hurricanes, the calendar for Broward County public schools has been updated
Coral Springs, Florida – Following Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton closures, Broward County Public Schools has revised the 2024–25 school calendar.
The modifications were adopted at a special meeting of the Broward County School Board on Tuesday. According to a press release from school administrators, they added three days with severe weather on November 25 and 26, as well as March 31, 2025. If more school cancellations occur due to bad weather, those days will be used.
January 6 will now be a regular school day rather than an employee planning day. According to a press statement from the district, the first semester will conclude on January 9, 2025.
Additionally, they have changed January 10, 2025, from a regular school day to an employee planning day.
The adjustments were made by school administrators to compensate for the number of instructional days missed as a result of the storms that shut down schools for several days in September and October.
Schedules for exams won’t be impacted. According to school officials, these adjustments guarantee the district satisfies state standards for instructional time.
