Football and volleyball teams in Coral Springs start their 2024 season

Coral Springs, Florida – With the commencement of the football and volleyball seasons this past week, high school athletics in Coral Springs heated up.
The football squad of Coral Springs High School lost its opener, 41–13, to Palm Beach Lakes High School. They then lost 33-6 to Nova High School, and their next game is scheduled for Friday, September 6 at 7 p.m. versus Coral Glades.
Coral Springs Charter’s first game of the regular season ended in a 51-7 loss to NSU University. On Friday, August 30, at 7 p.m., CSC will play their next game at home against Pembroke Pines Charter. Coral Glades scored a touchdown in the second quarter of their game against Cypress Bay High School, but they were shut out the rest of the way. The Jaguars defeated Northeast High School 41-14 in their opening game and also defeated the Panthers by two points in their only encounter last season.
J.P. Taravella has a youthful squad consisting of fifteen rookies. In their second game on Thursday, they lost to Northeast High School 28-13 after losing their first game 40-0. On Thursday, September 5, at 4 p.m., they will play Pompano Beach High School. The Golden Eagles lost their opening game of the 2024 season against Marathon High School, whereas JPT prevailed 27–6 in the lone meeting played the previous year.
A rivalry match between Coral Springs Charter and Coral Springs High School kicked off the volleyball season.
To go to 1-0, the Panthers won 25-9, 25-20, and 25-11. With eighteen kills, Samantha McMillan led the Panthers. Allyson Gates scored six, and Jade Keen contributed eight more.
Kailey Michaelson, Mia Luersen, Julianna Bermudez, Angie Barrios, Brooke Clark, Valery Ortiz, Kaila White, Isabella Nelson, Jade Keen, Olivio Greco, Francesca Schirripa, and Kailey Michaelson make up the remainder of their team.
In addition, CSC defeated Pembroke Pines Charter in five sets in their most recent game. They also defeated Monarch High School 20-25, 25-19, 25-23, and 25-19. They will play again against NSU University on Tuesday, September 3 at 6:30 p.m., having only lost against Sagemont High School.
The following players are on the CSHS team: Tatianna Faison, Rebecca Assena, Mya Inoa, Ana Cordero, Shanecia Mustafa, Jasmin Caraballo, Gabriela Alonso, Tatiana Hodge, Savannah Jones, Christi Alonso, Kaylah Pinkey, Kaylee Belliard, and Stacey Luce. They lost to Nova and Deerfield Beach School, but they did get their first victory over Dillard. They kick off the season on Tuesday, September 3 at 5:30 p.m. against South Place High School.
The Coral Glades volleyball team defeated Nova High School in five sets, improving their record to 1-3. They suffered three-set losses to Everglades, Pompano Beach, and Fort Lauderdale High School High School. Their next match is scheduled for Tuesday, September 3, at 6 p.m., against Cooper City High School. The Jaguars are made up of the following players: Malia Mohammed, Chrystal Carreras, Jessica Fele, Camille Camper, Kelsie Reid, Megan Cecil, Paula Ochoa-Anzola, Aaliyah Fuentes, Lindsey Perlmutter, Cara Miedema, and Daniela Zuniga.
J.P. Taravella fell short of Piper High School, losing 25-12, 25-17, and 25-12. Their next game is scheduled for Tuesday, September 3, at 6 p.m. against Monarch High School.
