Man Charged With Breaking Into Car In Coral Springs, Stealing Wallet, and Going On Spending Spree
CORAL SPRINGS, FL – Sometime earlier this week, a 29-year-old man came to Coral Springs to break into cars, a police report said.
Charles Vanderhall succeeded on NW 6 Court, where he allegedly took a cell phone and wallet from a car parked outside a house, the report said.
By the time Coral Springs police caught up to him in Lauderhill on Monday, Vanderhall, who lives in Tamarac, charged up more than $1,000 on the credit credits found in the wallet, the report said.
Police tracked him down using a GPS system connected to the cell phone Vanderhall stole from the car and carried it in his pocket.
Officers arrested him at a gas station without any problems.
According to the report, Vanderhall confessed to police that he used the credit cards at CVS, Walgreens, Publix, 7-Eleven, Exxon, and Chevron in several cities to buy gift cards, gas, and T-shirts.
He was charged with burglary, grand theft, and four counts of fraudulent use of credit cards, the report said.
Vanderhall remained in Broward County Jail on Thursday on nine charges, records show.
