Michael Udine, Broward Commissioner: appreciative and prepared for events and community projects

Coral Springs, Florida – The chilly weather feels fantastic now that February has arrived! The IGNITE Broward 2025 festival will light up Broward County from February 14–23. The Broward County Cultural Division is hosting a free art festival that includes artwork, light sculptures, and completely immersive experiences created by regional and national artists. The community will have access to three displays, which is the best part! Go to the festival in Arts Park at Young Circle in Hollywood, Mad Arts in Dania Beach, or Esplanade Park in Fort Lauderdale. It’s something you shouldn’t miss!
During February, which is Black History Month, Broward Libraries are organizing programs and exhibits to help the public learn about and comprehend our local and national past. The African American Research Library in Broward County is at the heart of this. Take advantage of special movie evenings, book discussions, and interactive exhibits throughout Black History Month. See what’s happening at the library at Broward.org.
Are you prepared to enjoy some sunshine outside? You should attend a lot of events in Broward Parks. There is plenty of entertainment for the whole family, including the Tour of South Florida Bike Race Event, nature excursions, and the dog event Wienerfest! Look through the calendar at Broward.org/parks to locate a leisurely activity in the lovely weather.
The tragedy at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on February 14, 2018, and the people who perished there, will always be remembered. Please contact one of the many local resources available, such as Eagles Haven, which offers resources and support every day, or the 211 helplines if you or someone you know is in need during these weeks. Years may go by, but we will always remember the people who died and those who carry on their legacy.
Lastly, American Heart Month is in February. I want to urge everyone who hasn’t had a checkup in a long time to make sure they do so. Through its heart program, Broward County continues to promote heart health by providing heart screenings. To learn more, go to Broward.org/takehearttest.
