New gas pumps proposed to ease congestion at Costco service station

Coral Springs, Florida – Coral Springs Costco patrons may soon witness shorter lineups at the retailer’s well-liked service station.

Next Wednesday, commissioners in Coral Springs will decide whether to approve Costco’s request to add six fuel pumps to the station located at 4621 Coral Ridge Dr., bringing the total number of pumps at the location up to 24, per municipal records.

The purpose of the proposed extension is to reduce traffic at the service station, which regularly has long lineups of patrons looking for some of South Florida’s cheapest gas.

The records indicate that the additional pumps are not anticipated to bring in a rise in customers for the station, which is only accessible to Costco members.

In July, the Planning and Zoning Board of the city overwhelmingly recommended that the expansion be approved.

Costco and its service station are located on 17.2 acres of land that were left empty and undeveloped before 2019. Costco’s building was approved by commissioners in 2017, and the wholesale shop opened its doors in 2019.

The commission meeting is scheduled for next Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at Coral Springs City Hall, located at 9500 W. Sample Rd.
