Southland Shopping Center center closed after ceiling collapse
Fort Lauderdale, Florida – A shopping center in Fort Lauderdale is being closed after ceiling collapse.
Thursday fire rescue officials were called to the Bealls Outlet store in the Southland Shopping Center on State Road 84, about a mile west of I-95.
According to the Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue spokesman Stephen Gollan the crews had concerns about the building and contacted the city’s building department.
According to Gollan structural engineers had concerns about the entire shopping center, and as a result, all of the businesses in that plaza, including the Winn-Dixie, have been closed until they are ready and safe to re-enter.
No injuries were reported.
