Vice Mayor Joy Carter Re-Elected for Coral Springs Commission Seat
Election Day showed a decisive win for vice mayor and city commissioner Joy Carter, who held onto Seat 5 on Tuesday with 35,273 votes —or 64.2 percent.
Carter ran against political newcomer Cathy Remy, an advanced practice nurse practitioner of neurology. Both raised money for their campaigns; however, Carter, who has held her commission seat since 2014, out-raised her opponent by a wide margin.
A resident of Coral Springs for 35 years, Carter is a Realtor with Keller-Williams. In September, Carter told Coral Springs Talk her goal is to make her hometown a destination city.
Part of that goal entails taking the Atlantic Trailways and creating a walking bicycle path on Coral Ridge Drive that loops as far as the Sawgrass Expressway and Sawgrass Nature Center.
