3 people arrested in attack of a cat with pellet gun
Hollywood, Florida – Three people have been arrested after shooting in a cat with a pellet gun, paralyzing it from the hips down.
Hollywood police said the animal had to be euthanized after the June attack.
According to police, arrests were made last week of Lawrence Calvin Ivey, 38, Jamarlin Kenyatta Huntley, 25, and Walkenssia Joazile, 25. Ivey faces a charge of aggravated animal cruelty. Huntley is charged with aggravated animal cruelty and tampering with evidence. Joazile is also charged with tampering with evidence.
According to investigators, they were called out to 1950 Taft Street on June 20 to investigate the animal cruelty case.
Hollywood police say home surveillance video of the incident from the neighborhood helped in catching the three suspects. Michelle Osborne says her cameras captured what happened.
“It couldn’t even walk,” she said of the cat. “Somebody shot it, they broomed it and they kicked it.”
Osborne says she is sick over the video.
“I wanted to scream, you know, and then I wanted to cry,” she said. “Then I wanted to faint. This kitten wasn’t doing anything.”
