$90k grant for Coral Springs Museum of Art
Coral Springs, Florida – The Coral Springs Museum of Art was awarded a $90,000 grant for general operating support from the State of Florida, the Department of State, and the Division of Arts and Culture.
It is the largest grant the museum has received. “We’re thrilled because it’s really going to help us with our operations and to be able to continue to provide great programming and events to the community,” said Jill Brown, executive director of the museum.
By diversifying the artists and mediums they present and continue providing free general admission to all ages, said Brown, the grant will help grow their exhibition program.
They also plan to use the grant to support community events, like ARTventures Family Fun Day.
Every second Saturday of the month ARTventures is hosted and offers community members a tour of the current exhibit and engaging activity for the whole family afterward.
Arts education is another focus of expansion through the grant. The museum offers classes, like pottery and mixed media, to all ages. Working artists also teach advanced courses for people interested in learning different techniques.
According to Brown, the community’s interest in the museum led to this grant award. “The community supporting us makes that happen,” Brown said. “It allows us to show that there’s an absolute interest and need in our community for this, and it’s important for us to be able to tell those grant panelists about it.”
The museum exhibits a new artist every eight weeks.
